Falling stars

They handed her a star from the sky
She buried it deep underground
It lit brilliantly upon her saddened face

They all said she was crazy
To destroy such a gift
but her instincts told her differently

The war between them was fading
To a smokey grey twilight
She wishes upon fallen stars
They will never understand

What is happening to her
In her mind, and in her soul
Her book is never opened
The hardest to read amoung all of them

There's little any one can do
Lovers, friends, family
She stares blankly now
The brilliant sparkle of stars has disappeared from her eyes

Cold and lifeless, she begins to fade
There's nothing they can do
They sit and wait and watch and listen
For another star to shine brightly upon them
